After the braces come off, your orthodontic treatment isn’t over yet. At this point, you will begin the retention phase. As part of your treatment plan, we will provide you with upper and lower retainers to keep your teeth from moving back to their original positions. During this period, we strongly encourage you to wear your retainers as instructed for the amount of time we prescribe. Typically, patients must wear retainers for one to two years for excellent results. Without them, you risk additional treatment time and costs.
